MARICOPA, Ariz. -

Southern Dunes Day 2

The University of Wyoming men's golf team turned in a stellar score of 288 (E) during Sunday's final round of the Cowboy Southern Dunes. The Cowboys finished the tournament with a score of 865 (+1), which was enough to take home second place. The Cowboys were paced senior Kamrin Allen as he notched a final score of 215 (-1). He fired a 73 (+1) in the last round of the tournament to finish in fourth place.

"Today was an exceptional par for the team," UW head coach Joe Jensen said. "It was a very windy day but we hung in there and ended the fall season with a good round."

The Cowboys second-place finish was the best by Wyoming this fall season. Junior Ryan Wallen tied for the 10th place spot after shooting a final round of 74 (+2). Sophomore Drew McCullough carded a 69 (-3) in the final round to finish tied for 13th. Quintin Pope hit a 75 (+3) in his final round of play, tying him for 15th. Sophomore Glenn Workman rounded out the day for the Cowboys as he turned in a 72 (E) to wrap up tournament play in 22nd place at 222 (+6).

"The wind played a big role today, " Jensen added. "Drew shot extremely well, getting a -2, considering the circumstances.

Sophomore Arron Lickteig and freshman John Murdock played as individuals for the last tournament of the fall season. Lickteig finished the tournament at 223 (+7), to place him in the 23rd spot. Murdock finalized his day shooting a 232 (+16), ending in 38th place.

Idaho walked away with the team title as it finished the tournament with a score of 860 (-4). Wyoming followed in second-place. San Francisco finished third with an 874 (+10). Grand Canyon followed with a score of 876 (+12). UC Riverside rounded out the top-five at 886 (+22).

Arizona State's Nicolo Galletti won the individual crown by carding a 206 (-10) for the tournament, as he won the event by six strokes.

"We want to give credit to the exceptional staff at the Southern Dunes," Jensen said. "The property is a great venue with the PGA school starting there this week."

Wyoming will return to action Feb. 2, 2016, at the Ram LMU-Higgins Memorial Invitational in Lake Las Vegas, Nev.
