Wyoming Battles Weather at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational

BOULDER, Colo. -

The University of Wyoming men's golf team finished play at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational on Tuesday in Boulder, Colo. Wyoming tallied a 598 (+22) tying for 15th place in the 17-field teams. UW battled rain on the opening day recording a 302 (+13) for the first round and closed out the tournament with a round of 296 (+7) on the Colorado National Golf Club. Wyoming was led by freshman Drew McCullough, who carded a 147 (+3) for the event.

"Overall I feel okay about the tournament," UW head coach Joe Jensen said. "We had a rough first round that dug us a hole. We played six strokes better today and we caught a few teams, but with it being a shortened event it only gave us one shot to move up."

McCullough tied for 29th place with a scorecard of 147 (+3) after shooting a 72 (E) and a 75 (+3). Fellow freshman Glenn Workman tied for 45th with a 149 (+7) after carding a 74 (+2) in the first round and a 75 (+3) in the final round. Freshman Quintin Pope, tied for 52nd place, tallying a 150 (+8) with rounds of 78 (+6) and 72 (E). Junior Kamrin Allen recorded a 78 (+6) and a 74 (+2) tying 64th place. Sophomore Ryan Wallen wrapped up the day for the Cowboys with a 155 (+11) and tied for 81st place.

Redshirt freshman Arron Lickteig, playing as an individual, tallied a 73 (+1) and an 80 (+8) tying for 70th place. Senior Cameron Lindell, playing as an individual, tied for 74th place with a finish of 154 (+10).Colorado took the team title with rounds of 276 (-13) and 280 (-9) for a two-round total of 556 (-20). Colorado's David Oraee was the individual winner shooting a 131 (-13) with rounds of 64 (-8) and 67 (-5).

The Cowboys return to action hosting the inaugural Cowboy Southern Dunes Invitational on Monday and Tuesday in Maricopa, Ariz.
