MW All-Academic Release
A school-record 50 University of Wyoming student-athletes received Academic All-Conference honors for the fall semester, announced Thursday by the Mountain West.
Cowboy football led the way with 16 honorees, followed by women's soccer (13), volleyball (11), women's cross country (six) and men's cross country with four recipients. The 50 total awardees for Wyoming represents the highest number of fall honorees in the 15-year history of the MW. The figure surpasses the previous high of 47, achieved in 2005 and 2013. Fall sports include men's and women's cross country, football, women's soccer and women's volleyball.
Two student-athletes achieved a perfect 4.0 grade-point average. Sophomore Mary Kozlowski, who participates in women's cross country, earned the mark while studying elementary education. Freshman soccer player Laurel Ramer got a 4.0 while pursuing her studies in pre-pharmacy.
Overall, 12 seniors comprised the list, along with 16 juniors, nine sophomores and 13 freshmen. The average GPA of the 50 Wyoming honorees was 3.5.
The criteria for selection to the team requires that a student-athlete must have completed at least one full semester at their university, must have achieved a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.00 or higher and must have been a starter or significant contributor to their team.
