Mountain West Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week Video
University of Wyoming seniors Morgan Hartigan and Amanda Fay earned Mountain West weekly honors on Wednesday afternoon, announced by the conference office. It is the first time in Fay’s career that she has been named MW Diver of the Week. Hartigan earned Swimmer of the Week honors for the fourth time in her career with three coming a season ago.
Hartigan, a native of Cheyenne, Wyo., had a career day in Corbett Pool winning three races and setting two Corbett Pool records. She opened her day with a victory in the 50 freestyle posting a time of 23.24. She followed that up with a win and pool record in the 100 freestyle with a time of 50.76. Hartigan ended her afternoon with a victory in a pool-record time of 2:05.40 in the 200 individual medley.
Fay, a native of Jackson, Wyo., was outstanding on the boards for the Cowgirls setting a school and pool record in the 1-meter springboard with a tally of 325.95. The mark also put Fay on top of the Mountain West best list this season. She also placed second in the 3-meter dive with a score of 297.45. Both scores solidified her spot in the NCAA Zone Diving Championships in March.
Wyoming returns to action this weekend with the swimmers heading to Las Vegas, Nev., and the divers heading to Colorado Springs, Colo. The Swimmers will face UNLV with the women also facing Nevada on Saturday afternoon. The divers will participate in the Air Force Diving Invite on Friday and Saturday.
