Miller and Ortiz Named MWC Divers of the Week

LARAMIE, Wyo. -

For the fourth time this season University of Wyoming diver Stephanie Ortiz was named Mountain West Conference Diver of the Week on the women's side. Cowboy senior Tyler Miller earned men's MWC Diver of the Week honors.

Ortiz, a product of Colorado Springs, Colo., broke a school record for the third consecutive week by scoring 309.45 on the 1-meter springboard at the Wildcat Invitational. The junior Cowgirl captain had set the previous record (300.20) against New Mexico on Nov. 7. Ortiz also won the 3-meter title in the field of 45 with a six-dive total of 305.50.

Miller, who hails from Greeley, Colo., had a personal-best performance last week at the Arizona Diving Invitational. He scored 314.20 on the 3-meter springboard to finish fifth. Miller also qualified for the championship round on both the platform (255.75, fifth) and on the 1-meter springboard (297.25, seventh).

UNLV sophomore Kier Maitland was named MWC men's Swimmer of the Week.
