Saturday night Nov. 10, the Wyoming Cowboys open their 2007-08 regular season hosting the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. The game will tip off at 7:00 p.m. from Wyoming's Arena-Auditorium.
First-year head coach Heath Schroyer and his Cowboys will open the 103rd season of Wyoming Basketball. In 102 previous season openers, the Wyoming Cowboys are 67-35 (.657). In home openers, UW has won 81 games, losing only 21 for a 79.4 winning percentage.
Wyoming posted a 2-0 record in exhibition games this season, while UCCS is 0-1 in exhibition contests. UW defeated Regis, 88-62, on Nov. 3 and Colorado State-Pueblo, 73-66, on Nov. 6. UCCS traveled to Montana State back on Nov. 1, losing to the Bobcats by a 61-67 margin.
The UCCS Mountain Lions are members of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC). Wyoming holds an all-time record of 64-17 (.790) against RMAC schools.
In the only other regular-season meeting between the Wyoming Cowboys and UCCS Mountain Lions, Wyoming won by a score of 105-67 in Laramie on Dec. 5, 2005.
Wyoming junior point guard Brandon Ewing enters the 2007-08 season with 1,039 career points to rank No. 29 in school history in scoring.
The next two individuals on the UW career scoring list are Uche Nsonwu-Amadi (1,053 points from 2001-03) and Doug Bessert (1,059 points from 1976-79).
Senior guard Brad Jones is currently ranked No. 9 on the Wyoming career assist list. Jones has handed out 246 career assists at UW.
Saturday's game will be broadcast on radio over the 25-affiliate stations of the Cowboy Sports Network beginning with the pregame show one-half hour before tipoff.
Following Saturday's season opener, UW's next action will be on Tuesday, Nov. 13 at the University of Denver in a 7 p.m. game.
