HONOLULU (AP) - DeAngelo Alexander scored 23 points to lead Charlotte to a 79-78 win over Wyoming to take fifth-place in the Rainbow Classic Saturday.

EJ Drayton added 19 points for the 49ers (5-6) and Carlos Williams 23.

Brandon Ewing led four players in double figures for Wyoming (9-4) with 19 points. Daaron Brown added 18, James Spencer 17 and Brad Jones 16.

Charlotte made seven of its first 13 3-point attempts to lead by as much as 19, 43-24, with 4:57 remaining in the first.

But the 49ers missed their final eight field goal attempts of the half, and Wyoming closed the half on an 11-2 run to pull to within 10, 45-35, at the half.

Wyoming pulled to within three, 76-73, on a banker by Ewing with 23.6 seconds remaining. But Charlotte made three of four free throws in the final 21 seconds to hold on for the win.
