The Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team opened up a four-match road swing with a close 5-4 loss to the Rollins College Tars, on Sunday morning, in Florida.
The doubles team of Patricia Chien and Karolina Rowinski earned an 8-5 victory over the team of Bernal and Frandji, while the team of Andrea House and Gwen Moser fell to Gehret and Hamlin, 9-7, as did Corina Lazar and Amy Senko, 8-6, against Pucell and Mahler.
In singles play, the Cowgirls took three out of six matches. At the number three spot, freshman Corina Lazar defeated Soni Bernal in a tough three set match 5-7, 6-0, 6-2. Andrea House was victorious over Silvia Frandji, 6-3, 6-2, while Michelle Brown won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2, against Kat Hamlin. Junior Patricia Chien lost a disappointing three set match, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 at the number one position. Rollins wrapped up the match as Marnie Mahler defeated Karolina Rowinski, 6-0, 6-3, and Tricia Gehret earned a 6-3, 6-3 win over Amy Senko.
Wyoming will continue play on Monday morning with a match against the Jacksonville Dolphins in Jacksonville, Florida.
