Steve Leven keyed a second-half comeback with four 3-pointers and finished with 21 points in leading Wyoming past Texas-Arlington 86-79 Saturday.
Jay Straight contributed 16 points and nine assists, Alex Dunn 11 points and nine rebounds, and Derek Wabbington 12 points for Wyoming (3-0).
Texas-Arlington (2-2) was led by Steven Thomas' 11 points and 10 rebounds. Jermaine Griffin added 16 points, and Brady Dawkins 15.
Wyoming gained a 45-38 halftime lead, but quickly fell behind when Texas-Arlington opened the second half with a 12-0 run.
But Leven hit the first of four 3-pointers at the 11 minute mark and the Cowboys grabbed the lead for good, 61-60, with 9:35 to go on a follow dunk by Justin Williams. Leven finished the game 4-of-11 on 3-point attempts.
Wyoming pulled away in the end with free throws. For the game, the Cowboys sank 19-of-28 free throws, while the Mavericks finished 10-of-14.
Both teams shot well from the field: Wyoming hit 50 percent (30-60), and Texas-Arlington 49 percent (30-61).
