Laramie, Wyo. -- For the second year in a row, Amy Doman, a senior on the University of Wyoming Women's Volleyball Team, was selected on Thursday as a First Team Academic All-District VII team honoree. Doman, who has earned a 3.954 cumulative grade-point average in health sciences, was one of only 12 individuals to earn First or Second Team honors.
The Academic All-District team is a part of the Academic All-America program. Student-athletes are selected in voting by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). CoSIDA District VII is made up of the states of Wyoming, Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota and the Canadian provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan.
To qualify, a student-athlete must have achieved a minimum of 3.20 cumulative grade-point average, must be at least a sophomore and must have participated in at least 50 percent of her team's games.
Out of 56 total athletes nominated by 22 different schools, 12 student-athletes were selected for the CoSIDA Academic All-District VII Women's Volleyball squad. The six student-athletes selected to the first team will now move on to the national ballot in consideration for the honor of Academic All-America®.
Doman is a three-time Academic All-Conference and Scholar-Athlete selection, while earning First Team Academic All-District honors last season and Second Team Verizon Academic All-District VII honors in 2002. She currently leads the Cowgirls in assists with 13.29 per game, which is second in the Mountain West Conference, along with 1.56 digs per game and a .438 (58-9-112) hitting percentage. Doman also currently has 4735 career assists, which is second all-time in school history. The Cowgirls are currently 13-11 overall and 6-6 in the Mountain West Conference.
