Wyoming's Lauren Scott Named MWC Volleyball Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -

Wyoming freshman middle blocker Lauren Scott earned Mountain West Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, marking her first career award.

A 6-2 freshman from Lone Tree, Colo. (Highlands Ranch HS), Scott helped the Cowgirls go 2-0 to open league play for the first time since 1997 with wins over New Mexico and Air Force last weekend. Against New Mexico, Scott had a .409 hitting percentage with 12 kills and six blocks, as Wyoming got past the Lobos in five games. She hit .400 vs. Air Force, matching her career-high with 13 kills. Scott added a career-best two solo blocks (eight total blocks) and a dig in four games vs. the Falcons.

For the week, Scott averaged 2.78 kills and 1.56 blocks per game, while hitting .404 (25-6-47). She also had three digs and an assist. On the season, she currently leads Wyoming in blocks (1.43 per game) and hitting percentage (.359, 122-37-237), ranking fourth in the MWC in both categories.
