Colorado State sophomore Jacob Benson and Wyoming sophomore Shauna Smith have been selected as the Mountain West Conference Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, respectively.

Shauna Smith - Wyoming
Sophomore - Sprints - Sheridan, Wyo./Sheridan HS
Smith set a new War Memorial Fieldhouse record in the 400-meter dash with a time of 55.33, breaking her old record of 55.95, at the Robert Shrine Invitational this past weekend.
MEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Jacob Benson - Colorado State
Sophomore - Jumps - Glenwood Springs, Colo./Glenwood Springs HS
Benson captured the high jump and triple jump titles at the Robert Shrine Invitational this past weekend with leaps of 6' 10" (personal best) and 49' 10 ?", respectively. The jumps are currently the top mark in the MWC this season and the fourth and fifth best, respectively, in the four-year history of the conference. He also finished second in the long jump with a personal best leap of 23' 4 ?3/4". Benson's mark in the triple jump broke the 35-year-old Colorado State school record of 49' 4" held by Mike Clark (1968).
