Laramie, Wyo. -- For the first time in her career, AmyDoman, a sophomore on the University of Wyoming Women's Volleyball Team,was selected on Thursday as a Second Team Verizon Academic All-DistrictVII honoree. Doman, who has earned a 4.00 cumulative grade-point averagein health science, was one of only 12 individuals to earn First orSecond Team honors.
The Verizon Academic All-District and Academic All-America Teams aresponsored by Verizon Wireless. Student-athletes are selected in votingby the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). CoSIDADistrict VII is made up of the states of Wyoming, Colorado, Iowa,Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota andthe Canadian provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan.
To qualify, a student-athlete must have achieved a minimum of 3.20cumulative grade-point average, must be at least a sophomore and musthave participated in at least 50 percent of her team's games.
Doman was also an Academic All-Conference and Scholar-Athlete selectionin 2001. She currently leads the Cowgirls in assists with 12.14 pergame, which is second in the Mountain West Conference, along with 1.40digs per game. The Cowgirls are currently 20-8 overall and 5-7 in theMountain West Conference.
