LARAMIE, Wyo. -
University of Wyoming freshman tennis player Jenny Bowman was named to the Mountain West Conference All-Conference team this past weekend at the MWC Championships.
Bowman, from Sacramento, Calif., was the No. 1 singles player for the Cowgirls all season long. She compiled an overall record of 13-17 in her first season of action. In MWC action Bowman notched an upset victory over nationally-ranked Paulina Janus of UNLV 6-4, 1-6, 6-3. Bowman also won her conference matches against Colorado State and Utah.
"We're really proud of Jenny," said Wyoming head coach Pam Wildt. "This is a well-deserved honor and a real accomplishment for a freshman. She played very well for us all year long and really established herself as our No. 1 player."
Bowman was one of only two freshmen on the 12-player All-Conference list. Jodi Richardson of BYU was named Player of the Year and Agnieszka Abram was named Freshman of the Year.
