The University of Wyomingwomen's golf team finished 18th at the Oregon State ShanicoInvitational, held at the Trysting Tree Golf Course in Corvallis,Oregon.
The Cowgirls shot a three-round team combined total of 1006 on the par72 course. The Cowgirls were led by Alison McGuire who placed tied for66th with a score of 245. Jessi Santesson shot a 250 putting her in atie for 80th, Tara Ludwig finished in a tie for 84th with a 254, AshleyCariveau shot a 260 placing her in a tie for 89th and Aryn Cariveauplaced 92nd with a score of 265.
Colorado State's Stephanie Linnell took the top individual honors witha score of 219, three over par. The University of California won the 18team tournament shooting a score of 910, just one struck ahead of SanDiego State and the University of San Francisco.
"It was a disappointing week for us," said Wyoming head coach JillJohnson. "We're young and we are just trying to get some experienceright now and I know these first few tournaments are going to be rough.We just need to learn to be patient.
"Alison (McGuire) had a really steady tournament and she's definitelystarting to have some confidence with her game and I think within thenext couple of weeks she's going to start breaking into the 70's alittle bit more and probably be a real strong player for us this year."Johnson said.
The Cowgirls will take a week off between tournaments before returningto the links Sept. 25, when they compete at the Lady CardinalInvitational in Beaumont, Texas.
