University of Wyoming senior golferJordan Lintz is in third place after the first round of the New MexicoStateRoadrunner Invitational. Lintz, from Rapid City, S.D., shot an openinground 72, and trails only Priscillia Hunt of Texas Tech (70) and AndreaCordova of Washington (71) with two rounds to play.
The Wyoming Cowgirls are in 16th place in the field of 20 teamsafter the first round. Washington leads the team competition with ascoreof 294. Wyoming shot a 321.
"Jordan played one of her best rounds of the year against anextremely tough field," said UW women's golf coach Jill Johnson. "Thisisone of the best fields we'll face all season, and it gives us a chanceforour younger players to get experience playing against some of the bestwomen's golfers in the country.
"This is our final tournament of the fall season, and I've reallybeen pleased with how the girls have continued to improve throughout thefall tournaments."
The New Mexico State Invitational is being played on the UniversityGolf Course in Las Cruces, N.M. The course measures 6,117 yards andplaysto a par of 72. The tournament format included one 18-hole round onMondayand will continue with the second round on Tuesday and the final roundonWednesday.
