DALLAS (AP) - Southern Methodist went on a 17-0 run at the end of the firsthalf and early in the second half and held off a late Wyoming rally for a 75-72victory Saturday night.
Willie Davis with 16 points led four players in double figures for SMU(11-12, 5-5 Western Athletic). Ugo Udezue scored 31 points to lead Wyoming(14-8, 5-6).
Stephen Woods scored the Mustangs' last four points, all in the last minute.He broke a 71-71 tie with a jump shot and added two free throws with eightseconds remaining for SMU.
After the Cowboys' Anthony Blakes made the second of two free throws to cutthe deficit to 73-72 with eight seconds left, but Woods' free throws providedthe 75-72 cushion.
Wyoming's Chris McMillian missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer, and SMU had itsthird straight conference victory for the first time since the 1992-93 season.
Wyoming led 39-28 on Udezue's free throw with just under three minutes leftin the first half, but Damon Hancock scored four points in a 7-0 run thatpulled SMU to within 39-35 at intermission.
The Mustangs scored the first 10 points of the second half for a 45-39 lead.Wyoming countered with a 20-8 run, going ahead 59-53 on Josh Davis' tip-in offa Bradley Mann miss at 9:43.
