Air Force Live Stream | New Mexico State Live Results
LARAMIE, Wyo. – Wyoming men’s and women’s swimming and
diving will travel to Air Force for their first road duals of the 2016 season this
Thursday, beginning at 5 p.m. MT. The Cowgirls will then return home for a dual
against New Mexico State at the Corbett Pool on Friday, also slated for 5 p.m.
The women’s team is coming off a
167-132 win over New Mexico on Oct. 14. Standout performances in the diving and
relay events led the way for the Cowgirls. The men’s team is competing in its
first dual of the season, most recently racing at the DU Relays on Oct. 8.
“I think it’s good for the women’s
team to have to race on Thursday and then turn around and compete again on
Friday,” UW head coach Tom Johnson said. “It prepares them for the Missouri
Invite and the conference championship. We’re looking forward to Air Force, it’s
been a great rivalry and our meets have been really close over the past couple
years. I know the guys want the helmet back too. Their women are much improved
and they have a great freshman class.”
Last season, the Cowboys took on Air
Force at home, narrowly falling to the Falcons by a score of 156-144. Junior Ryan Ball led UW with victories in the 1000 freestyle, 200 backstroke and 200 I.M.
Each year, the winner of dual between Air Force and Wyoming brings home a
helmet with a Cowboy design on one half and Falcon design on the other. The
Cowgirls compete against New Mexico State following last season’s 178-122
victory in Las Cruces, N.M. The UW women won 10 of the 16 events on their way to
the dual win.
“We have to be able to turn
around and come back on Friday with the same energy that we go in with on
Thursday,” senior Lauren Puglisi said. “This past week we’ve all been putting
in really hard work and we get to see that pay off in competitions. We go into
every meet looking to do the best that we can. Last year that earned us a win
over New Mexico State, and if we go into this week with the same mentality we’ll
be able to win both duals.”
The
live stream of Thursday’s dual will be available through GoWyo.com, and will
also be available for viewing on the Mountain West Network at TheMW.com and on
Campus Insiders at CampusInsiders.com. Live results of Friday’s meet can
be found at gowyo.com. Follow the Cowgirls on Twitter (@WYO_SwimDive) for live
