The University of Wyoming women's soccer team found three goals in the first half to soar to a 4-1 victory over Colorado State on Friday at the Louis S. Madrid Sports Complex. The victory clinched second place in the Mountain West for the Cowgirls, tied for the program's best finish ever in the regular season, and gave Wyoming a perfect 6-0-0 home record this season, a first in Cowgirl history.

"I am proud of the total team effort today," UW head coach Pete Cuadrado said. "I'm really proud of the seniors and what they have done for our program over the years. I am excited but I know we have our work cut out for us. The Mountain West is a tough conference and they have been hard fought games between these top six teams but we are excited to be playing on Thursday."

Freshman forward Kaitlyn Lomsnes started off the Cowgirls early with a goal in the 8th minute. Lomsnes found the net after sophomore Laurel Ramer connected with freshman forward Candace Sciberras in the box. Wyoming's offense didn't stop there, as freshman midfielder Alisha Bass came pushing forward with the ball for a goal in the 37th minute. UW finished the half with its third goal in the 41st minute when sophomore forward Anne Hinman found sophomore midfielder Many Meyer for a shot 20 yards out. In the 49th minute Sciberras notched a goal off an assist from Ramer and Bass for a shot down the middle of the box. The Rams scored their lone goal in the 78th minute.

The Cowgirls out shot CSU by a margin of 16-8 and 10-8 in shots on goal. Lomsnes led the offense with a goal, five shots and three shots on goal. Sciberras followed her with a goal, three shots, a shot on goal and an assist.

Wyoming now faces the winner of New Mexico and Boise State's match on Tuesday at 5 p.m. MT in the Mountain West tournament on Thursday at 5 p.m. MT in San Diego, Calif.
