Kyle Bogner

Kyle Bogner will begin his fifth season in 2019-20 as head diving coach at the University of Wyoming. Bogner came to UW prior to the 2015-16 season after being the head diving coach at New Mexico State.

Four individuals qualified the NCAA Zone “E” Meet in 2018-19 including seniors Ryan Russi, Peyton GrandPre and CeeJay Harris plus freshman McKenna Houlihan. Russi had a successful WAC Championship. He finished in the top three in all three boards, while earning First Team honors in the one and three meters and Second Team in the platform. He recorded a career-high best score of 342.05 in the finals of three-meter. For all his efforts, Russi took home WAC Diver of the Week honors four times during the season. On the women’s side, Harris and Houlihan earned MW Diver of the Week honors for the first time in their careers. Houlihan took home the award after finishing second in both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards in the victory over Idaho. From Henderson, Nev., she finished with season best scores of 268.95 in the 1-meter and 263.77 in the 3-meter.  Harris finished first in the 1-meter diving event with a season high 278.85 mark, which earned nine points against Boise State. She recorded a 206.55 score in the 3-meter.

For the second consecutive year, two divers qualified for the NCAA Championships. Sophomore Karla Contreras won All-Mountain West honors on all three boards and qualified for the NCAA in all three events. She would place ninth in the platform to earn Honorable Mention All-American honors. She was the first Cowgirl to do that since 2016. Junior Scotia Mullin won his second straight title in the platform while coming away with a victory in the 3-meter. Mullin would also take home WAC Diver of the Year honors for the second year in a row.  For his efforts, Bogner would win WAC Diving Coach of the Year for the second time in his career.

In the 2016-17 season, he coached two UW divers to NCAA Championship appearances. Mullin became the WAC champion in the 1-meter and platform, securing the conference record on his way to NCAA qualification. Mullin was also named the WAC Diver of the Year. Contreras earned All-Mountain West honors in all three diving events and became just the second Cowgirl diver ever to qualify for the NCAA Championship in all three events.

During his first season as head diving coach, Bogner guided Kari Campbell to the NCAA Championships. Campbell became the first Cowgirl diver to earn All-America accolades, as she was named Honorable Mention All-America on the platform event. Additionally, Bogner coached three divers to the NCAA Zone “E” Meet during his first season, as Campbell, Keely Bishop and Jacob Rehmeier represented UW at NCAA Zones.

At New Mexico State, Bogner worked under the head coach and was involved in many facets of the program including recruiting, travel and administrative duties. Before working for the Aggies, he was the Graduate Assistant Diving Coach at Northern Michigan.

As a diver for UW, Bogner was the Wyoming Diver of the Year and the 1-meter Mountain West Champion in 2008. Bogner, a five-time MW Diver of the Week award winner, holds two of the top three 1-meter diving scores in school history. His score of 403.20 is also the MW top score in the 1-meter.

Bogner earned his bachelor's degree in communication with a minor in business from Wyoming in 2011, as well as his Master of Science in Administration degree from California State University, Bakersfield in 2013.
