Hometown Biography Summary Biography Junior (2016-17): Swam the fastest times of his career in three different events at the 2017 WAC Championships... Placed 11th with a time of 4:28.04 in the 500 freestyle... Clocked a 15:39.00 in the 1650 freestyle to place 10th... Recorded a 3:53.85 in the 400 individual medley, tying for the 10th-fastest time in school history, to place ninth... Recorded one race victory on the season, grabbing the top time in the 500 freestyle against Air Force. Sophomore (2015-16): Oleson opened his sophomore campaign with a second-place finish in the 1,000 free (9:51.26) and a third-place finish in the 500 free (4:48.22). Against LSU, he took second in the 800 free with a time of 8:42.10, and sixth place in the 1,650 free (15:50.89) at the Purdue Invite. Olseon was a key member of the meet against No. 14 Utah, as he took fourth in the 1,000 free (9:46.73) and third in the 500 free (4:42.97). He then took fourth in both the 500 and 1,000 free against Pac-12 member Arizona State. As the final tune-up before the WAC Championships, Oleson claimed victories in the 500 (4:33.74) and 1,000 free (9:32.85) against UNLV. At the championships, Oleson finished ninth overall in the 1,650 free (15:51.29), 11th in the 500 free (4:29.51) and 12th overall in the 400 IM (3:58.20). Freshman (2014-15): Oleson's freshman season was very exciting as he won the 500 freestyle by 27 seconds with a time of 4:47.09 against Colorado School of Mines. At the Colorado Mesa Invite, he finished sixth in the 1,650 freestyle with a time of 16.18.81, and against Denver he also placed sixth in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:50.16 as well as a fourth-place finish in the 1,650 with a final mark of 16:35.92. He came away with another fourth-place finish against Air Force in the 500 freestyle with a final time of 4:48.13 and also a fifth-place finish in the 1,000 freestyle. At the WAC Championships, Oleson finished 10th in the 1,650 freestyle with a time of 15:52.92. High School: Graduate of Westfield High School. Oleson competed for Viper Aquatics and has been coached by Kyle Messmore. Under Messmore's direction, Eric has had a great success in the water. Oleson was a junior national qualifier in the 500 freestyle and 200 freestyle. He was an Indiana High School state finalist in 200 and 500 freestyle. He earned Westfield High School Swimming MVP honors as team captain. Personal: He is the son of Dan and Karen Oleson. Eric has one younger sister, Emma and one older brother, Evan, who swam for UW.
