ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (April 8, 2018) – The Wyoming tennis team (10-7 overall, 2-2 MW) suffered a 4-3 loss against the New Mexico Lobos (8-7, 2-0 MW) on Sunday morning.
 
In doubles action, New Mexico took the early 1-0 advantage with two wins. Sophomore Ana Tkachenko and freshman Myiah Scott dropped a 6-1 contest against Bronte Murgett and Lauren Rich. Senior Magdalena Stencel and sophomore Milka Genkova fell to Diana Wong and Natasha Munday, 6-4, while juniors Elisa Koonik and Tessa van Der Ploeg were all tied up at four but didn't finish.
 
Koonik evened things up for UW with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Murgett, followed by Hsiang-Wen Huang over Tkachenko, 6-3, 6-2. It went back and forth over the final four matches. Stencel beat Wong, 6-3, 6-4, while Rich defeated Scott, 6-4, 6-2. Genkova would even things up at three all with a two-set win, 6-3, 6-4, against Yue Lin Chen. Unfortunately, van Der Ploeg fell short against Quevedo, 6-4, 7-5.
 
UW returns to action on Sunday, April 22 against Colorado State Rams. The match is set 12 p.m. MT in Fort Collins.
