FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (Feb. 24, 2018) – The Wyoming tennis team (2-4 overall) dropped a 5-2 match against the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks (9-2 overall) on Saturday afternoon.
 
In doubles action, it was a battle between the two teams. The 45th ranked team of Hanneke Lodewijks and Chirara Tomasetti defeated Elisa Koonik and Tessa van Der Ploeg, 6-1, while senior Magdalena Stencel and sophomore Ana Tkachenko beat CoraLynn Von Dungern and Ellie Millard, 6-3. Unfortunately, sophomore Milka Genkova and freshman Myiah Scott dropped a tough 7-5 match against Madi Moore and Eirene Granville.
 
Northern Arizona moved ahead 2-0 with Moore defeating Scott, 6-1, 6-0. The Cowgirls earned its first point of the day with Koonik beating Granville, 6-2, 7-5. Tomasetti beat Stencel, 6-2, 7-5, followed by Lodeijks winning in two set, 7-6 (7-3), 6-1, over van Der Ploeg to clinch the match. Genkova defeated Von Dungern, 6-4, 6-3, while Tkachenko lost Millard 6-1,1-6, 6-4. van Der Poeg lost 7-6 97-3, 6-1, against Lodwijiks.
 
The Cowgirls will continue spring action on Friday against the New Mexico State Aggies. The match is scheduled for 9 a.m. MT in Las Cruces.
