LINCOLN, Neb. (Feb. 17, 2018) – The Wyoming tennis team (2-3 overall) suffered a 4-0 loss against the Wichita State Shockers (8-2 overall) on Saturday morning.
 
Wichita State came out and took the 1-0 lead by winning two of three doubles matches. Juniors Elisa Koonik and Tessa van Der Ploeg lost to Fatima Bizhukova and Gabriela Porubin, 6-3, while sophomore Milka Genkova and freshman Myiah Scott lost to Ting-Ya Hsu and Guilia Guidetti 6-4. Senior Magdalena Stencel and sophomore Ana Tkachenko were tied 5-5 with Marta Bellucco and Sandra Honigova, but didn't finish.
 
The Shockers won the next three singles matches in order to come out on top in the match. Scott lost in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, against Sarvinoz Saidhujaeva followed by Porubin winning in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, over Tkachenko. WSU earned its fourth point and clinched the match with Honigova defeating van Der Ploeg, 6-1, 6-1. Three other matches were in action but weren't completed.  
The Cowgirls will continue spring action on Saturday against the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks. The match is scheduled for 4 p.m. MT in Flagstaff.
