Cowboy Golf Claims GCAA All-Academic Team Award

For the fifth-consecutive season, the University of Wyoming men’s golf program has been named to the All-Academic Team by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA), the organization announced yesterday afternoon.

“To once again be recognized for this award is great for our program,” UW head coach Joe Jensen said. “Every team member helps when it comes to awards like this and I hope we can continue this success for many years. It is tremendous to add this to the list of accomplishments we have had this year including representing well at the Mountain West tournament, being named the Coach of the Year, then Ryan (Wallen) being an All-America Scholar, and those are just to name a few. It really shows the amount of work our guys do, and I am very proud of that.”

Wyoming had six members named to the 2016 MW Spring Academic All-MW team. Wyoming came just short of the President’s Special Recognition list which is awarded for a team grade-point average of 3.5 or better. The Cowboys finished the year with a 3.44 grade-point average.

To be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors a college or university must submit the GPAs for each player on its official squad list for the academic year. A record 208 teams submitted GPAs of 3.00 or higher to earn All-Academic Team recognition.
