Cowboy Golfers Finish Second Round at Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate

Round Two Results

The University of Wyoming Cowboy Golf team concluded the second round of the Wyoming Cowboy Desert Intercollegiate on Saturday, at The Classic Club golf course in Palm Desert, Calif. With the final round set to be played Sunday, the Cowboys once again shot 298 (+10) and are in 20th place with senior Brent Baylon leading the way sitting in a tie for 36th with a score of 144 (E ).

“Another great day in a great field, it is going be competitive out here and it should be a tremendous final round,” Wyoming head coach Joe Jensen said.

Sophomore Kamrin Allen shot a second-round low for the Cowboys by carding a 72 (E ) to bring his total to 147 (+3), as he sits tied for 59th. Baylon added a 74 (+2) on Saturday with fellow senior Eddie Stewart recording a 75 (+3) on Saturday to sit tied 74th at 150 (+6).

“I feel great about the body of work we have put together and our top guys are playing great at this point,” Jensen said. “It is early in the spring and we are back on green grass. We are going get better as we knock off some of the rust.”

Cameron Lindell shot his best round of the tournament with a 77 (+5). He sits in a tie for 112th with a two-round total of 156 (+12). Eric Parish recorded an 80 (+8) to move two shots behind Lindell with 158 (+14).

Playing as individuals, P.J. Thomas finished the second round one shot from his career low. His score of 73 (+1) was the second best for the Cowboys on Saturday and brought his total to 154 (+10). Freshman Ryan Wallen carded a second-round score of 78 (+6) and is one shot behind Thomas with 155 (+11).

Oregon currently owns the team lead with its two-round score of 555 (+21). Trailing Oregon by one shot is Colorado with 556 (+20). The individual leader is David Fink of Oregon State with a two-day total of 136 (+8).

“Tomorrow will be a great opportunity to compete in a great field and we are a few shots out of moving up to the middle of a highly competitive field,” Jensen said

The Wyoming Cowboy Desert Intercollegiate continues Sunday at 7 a.m. PT.
