One Wyoming Swimmer and One Diver Earn Academic All-District VII Honors

University of Wyoming seniors Kari Budd and Emily Huth were recently named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VII Women's at Large Second Team. It's the first such honor for Budd, while Huth was selected last year for the same honor.

Budd, a Seabrook, Texas native, was a team captain for the Cowgirls this past season. She earned All-MWC honors in the 200 butterfly at the 2010 championships, an event in which she owns the second fastest time in school history. Budd also ranks third all-time in the 400 IM and ninth in the 200 IM. An excellent student, she has a 3.88 GPA in kinesiology and health promotion, while earning Academic All-Conference and MWC Scholar Athlete honors during her career.

Huth, a native of Salt Lake City, Utah, is a two-time All-Mountain West Conference performer in all three diving events in 2009 and in the one-meter and platform events in 2010. She has also qualified for the NCAA Zone "E" Diving Championships the past two years finishing 18th in 2009. Huth has a 3.91 grade point average in civil engineering. She has been named Academic All-Conference and a MWC Scholar-Athlete throughout her four-year career.

The ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District team is a part of the Academic All-America program. Student-athletes are selected in voting by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). CoSIDA District VII is made up of the states of Wyoming, Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota and the Canadian provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan.

To qualify, a student-athlete must have achieved a minimum of 3.30 cumulative grade-point average, must be at least a sophomore and must have participated in at least 50 percent of the her team's events.
