Cowgirl Basketball Set to Host Falcons

The Wyoming Cowgirl basketball team will wrap up the week by hosting the Air Force Academy Falcons, on Saturday, January 30. The game is set to tip off at 2 p.m. in the Arena Auditorium.
The Cowgirls will enter the game with a 12-6 overall record and a 3-3 mark in conference play after a 54-47 loss against the Utah Utes on Wednesday night. Three Cowgirls are scoring in double-figures so far led by junior Hillary Carlson who is averaging a team leading 14.3 points and 2.2 blocks per game. She is followed by fellow junior Aubrey Vandiver with 13.9 points and a team leading 9.2 rebounds per game, while Emma Langford is adding 12.3 points and 3.4 assists.
Carlson ranks first in blocks and sixth in scoring while being ranked fourth in field goal percentage and fifth in free throw percentage in the Mountain West Conference. Vandiver ranks among the Top 15 in points, rebounds, steals, field goal percentage and three-point field goal percentage while Langford is 11th in assists and 14th in scoring.
Air Force comes into the weekend with a 3-16 record overall and a 0-6 mark in conference play. They are led by Raimee Beck who is averaging a team leading 14.5 points and 6.7 rebounds. She is followed by Kelsey Berger with eight points and 3.4 boards per game.
They welcome back three starters and six letterwinners to a team that went 4-26 overall and 0-16 in the MWC a year ago. This is the 36th meeting between the two teams. Wyoming leads the series 33-2. The last time the two teams met was February 28, 2009 as the Cowgirls defeated the Falcons, 65-34, in Laramie. Air Force is coached by Ardie McInelly who is in her ninth season with the program.
