Cowgirl Basketball to Be Part of BlueCross/BlueShield of Wyoming Shootout

For the 11th straight year, the BlueCross/BlueShield of Wyoming Shootout will feature both the Wyoming Cowboy and Cowgirl basketball programs, on Saturday, Dec. 12, in Casper. The Cowgirls will take on the Dakota State Trojans at 1 p.m. followed by the Cowboys hosting the Northern Colorado Bears at 3:30 p.m. The games will be played in the Casper Events Center.
The Cowgirls will enter this Saturday's game with a 7-1 overall record. They earned a split last weekend with a 61-55 victory over the Idaho Vandals, but fell short against the Washington State Cougars, 63-50. Three Cowgirls are scoring in double-figures so far led by junior Aubrey Vandiver with 12.6 points and 8.3 rebounds. She is followed by junior Hillary Carlson with 12.4 points and 1.9 blocks, while Emma Langford is adding 10.9 points and five rebounds.
Vandiver, who currently leads the team in points, rebounds, steals and minutes played, ranks in the Top 10 in each of those categories in the Mountain West Conference. Carlson ranks first in blocks and ninth in scoring while being ranked second in free throw percentage and seventh in field goal percentage. Langford is ranked ninth in assists and 13th in scoring.
The Trojans are currently 4-5 overall and coming off a 79-59 conference victory over Mayville State. This contest will only count as an exhibition game for Dakota State. The Trojans are led by Ellesse Washington who is averaging 12.2 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. They return two starters and two letterwinners to a team that went 8-21 overall and 3-11 in the Dakota Athletic Conference a year ago. This is the first meeting ever between the two schools. Dakota State is coached by Joe Reints who is in his second year with the program.

Ticket prices range from $18 for reserved seating to $15 for general admission. Tickets admit fans to both the men's and the women's game.
