Laramie County Fund Drive for Cowboy Joe Club Kicks-Off Feb. 10

Feb. 9, 2009

The University of Wyoming's Cowboy Joe Club announced on Monday that volunteers will be conducting their annual Cowboy Joe Club fundraising drive for Laramie County beginning Feb. 10 through 19. Donations raised during the fund drive will go towards paying for educational and operational costs of UW student-athletes.

"Laramie County is very important to the Wyoming athletic community," Cowboy Joe Club Director and Associate Athletic Director Josh Rebholz said. "In 2008, Laramie County generated $389,000 through 708 members, which finished as the second most successful county in Wyoming. We look to Laramie County again in 2009, to help us reach our goal of providing $3.3 million in UW student-athlete assistance."

The Laramie County Fund Drive will last a little more than one week and volunteers will compete for prizes, gift certificates and a grand prize of a trip for two to San Diego. The fund drive will be once again be chaired by Harry Kembel.

Coinciding with the Laramie County Fund Drive are two public UW Athletic events in Cheyenne over the next ten days. First the Cheyenne Quarterback Club will host its annual Senior Ring Banquet on Wednesday evening, Feb.11 at the Cheyenne Holiday Inn, and then on Tuesday, Feb. 17 the Cowboy Joe Club and UW Alumni Association will host the first annual Wyoming Football Recruiting reception at Jackson's in Cheyenne. Both events will feature new Wyoming head football coach Dave Christensen and members of his coaching staff.
